How Mij Works
Traditional wearables measure temperature at your wrist or finger - the furthest point from where thermal regulation actually happens. Mij measures at the core: your chest, where your body's heat engine operates.
The result is direct insight into thermal load at the source, not a delayed proxy reading from your extremities.
Why Core-Based Sensing?
Your core is where metabolic heat is generated. It's where your cardiovascular system works hardest to distribute or dissipate that heat. Measuring at the wrist tells you what's happening after your body has already compensated. Measuring at the core tells you what's happening as your body generates the load.
Mij's fabric-embedded sensor sits at chest level, capturing the microclimate between your skin and the fabric layer. This microclimate - the pocket of air, heat, and moisture that forms as you work - reveals not just how hot you are, but how effectively your body is dissipating heat: the critical indicator of thermal stress progression.
What the sensor tracks:
- Heat production at the core
- Microclimate temperature and humidity
- How efficiently heat is dissipating through the fabric
- Thermal load patterns as they develop, not after the fact
This isn't about measuring skin temperature. It's about measuring the thermal environment your body creates when it's under load.
The Technology
Mij's sensor is integrated into the fabric of a performance shirt, positioned around the torso. It sits in direct contact with the microclimate your body generates - no wrist/finger offset, no delayed readings from peripheral circulation.
The system transmits data wirelessly to the Mij App, where algorithms analyze thermal load in real time. Charge the sensor module like any device. Wear it like any piece of clothing. The data follows you.
What You See in the Mij App
Real-Time Monitoring
Live thermal load data as your body generates it. Watch how microclimate conditions change with intensity, environment, and duration.
Trend Analysis
See how your thermal response compares to broader patterns - not just your own baseline. Understand whether your heat management is typical for the conditions, or if you're accumulating load faster than expected.
Session Breakdown
Post-activity analysis of thermal load progression: how heat accumulated, how your body responded, where patterns deviated from norm. Track trends over time to understand heat adaptation and capacity.
Export & Integration
Export session data for external analysis or record-keeping. Enterprise partnerships include API access for integration with existing safety management and HR systems.
Team Dashboard
Safety managers and coaches can monitor multiple users simultaneously, comparing individual thermal load patterns against team trends to identify outliers before heat stress becomes critical.
The Mij App
Available Q2 2026 on iOS and Android.
Early access partnerships include app deployment, team dashboard access, and integration support for organizational safety systems.
